French Frigate of XVIII° Century
History: Unfortunatly there are nearly no historical notice of this ship. "La Rénommée" had been launched in France, but date and name of the Shipyard are unknow. This type of frifate is very important in the evolution of this kind of ship, beacuse, as written by E.H.H. Archibald in "The Wooden Fighting Ship" it had been captured by the English in 1747, who got inspiration by it to start the building of a series of Frigates of 5 rank, equipped with only 30 guns of large caliber, placed on the second deck. All projects, by which this design had been obtained, have been picked up from Chapman's book " Architectura Navalis Mercatoria".
